Shaundra Olson, MA, LPCC, believes your story and journey is unique and that therapy should be tailored to your needs. I strive to create a space where you can safely explore your thoughts and challenges and build upon your strengths.
Your culture, perspectives, and values help me understand how to use approaches that fit you. I like to use skills, talk therapy, and humor in sessions. This way you will learn new things, process feelings, and walk away feeling rejuvenated rather than exhausted after session.
I am a believer in a holistic approach. Mental health wellness includes mind, body, and soul. I guide others in developing or reconstructing their sense of self and demolishing old, unhealthy thought patterns. I will gently challenge you to embrace vulnerability, build upon your strengths, and I will celebrate victories with you! This type of work can help replace shame and sadness with empowerment, purpose, and joy. Approaches I use include ERP, CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, and trauma-informed and mindfulness-based practices.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked for over 4 years as an Independent Living Skills worker in the community and in clients’ homes. I have seen what a large variety of mental health concerns look like outside of the office. I also have experience in co-facilitating a Chronic Illness Group and running my own LGBTQ+ Group. These settings have taught me more about the importance of community, resources, support systems, and validation from peers and others regarding clients’ healing processes.
Throughout my own life, I have found healing in nature, music, poetry, meditation, and holistic practices. I look forward to joining you as you find strategies that foster peace and clarity. I am consistently amazed by the resilience of my clients and feel honored to be part of this journey.
Please find me on Psychology Today or TherapyDen for more information or to contact me directly via email. I would be happy to answer any questions or arrange a consultation.
